For generations, the sand model has been the heart of military planning — a physical terrain table where commanders rehearse the battle before it is fought. GLOBEIR 3D preserves everything that makes the sand table effective and adds what paper and sand never could: precise coordinates on every point, real elevation data, repeatable analysis, and instant updates.
What is a digital sand model?
A digital sand model is a 3D, computer-generated terrain surface built from drone or satellite imagery draped over a high-resolution Digital Elevation Model (DEM). Unlike a static sand table, every click returns exact Latitude/Longitude, MGRS, Grid Reference (GR), and elevation — so the planner, the Forward Observation Officer, and the signaller all speak the same language.
GLOBEIR 3D covers any Area of Responsibility (AOR) from 1 sq km to 2000 sq km, anywhere in the world — from the high-altitude Ladakh and Sikkim sectors to the deserts of Kutch and the riverine North-East.
Why formations choose it
Secure by design
Runs 100% offline on isolated or air-gapped workstations, gated by USB-token authentication. AOR imagery, DEM, annotations, and mission files stay on the customer's hardware — nothing leaves the perimeter.
Briefing-theatre ready
A single workstation drives a 65–85" wall display. First-Person View and Route Planner playback turn complex spatial plans into something a non-technical commander grasps in seconds.
The full analytical toolset
Terrain analysis, line-of-sight and viewshed, weapon range rings, ballistic trajectory, and a 600+ symbol military icon library — the calculations a planning room used to do on acetate, now computed on the real terrain.
Explore each capability
GLOBEIR 3D follows the army's own workflow — Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield, manoeuvre planning, fire planning, rehearsal, and briefing. Dive into the detail:
- 3D terrain analysis — DEM, slope, aspect, and hillshade for OAKOC
- Line of sight & viewshed analysis — observation and dead-ground mapping
- Ballistic trajectory simulation — terrain-aware fire planning
- Mission rehearsal & First-Person View — walk the ground before H-hour
- Custom GIS tools — modules built to your formation's SOP
